The racer is Basler’s latest line scan camera series and is based on next generation CMOS sensors with 2k to 12k resolution and up to 80 kHz line rate.
Ideal for price sensitive applications
The racer is offered at an extremely attractive price which is enabling customers to benefit from line scan technology in more industries than ever before.
What does a 2k resolution mean for line scan?
2k is the short hand for 2048 , meaning the camera has 2048pixels. The racer 2k is available with CameraLink or GigE Vision interface, and will run at a maximum of 80,000 lines per second or 51,000 lines per second respectively.
What is a line scan camera ?
Line scan cameras are perfectly suited to applications in which a large field of view, high-resolution, or high-speed image capture is needed, which is typical in a continuous web application or outdoor surveying.
A line scan camera consists of a single row of pixels for monochrome cameras (or a small number of rows for colour colours).
These rows can be scanned at very high speed, which in effect means you can have a very fast moving object passing under the camera, being captured at high resolution.
These are often referred to as web-based vision applications where the web is a continuous product like paper/print and textiles. Or it can be discrete components on a fast moving conveyor belt.
Where to use a Basler racer
- Web inspection (wood, paper, foil, etc.)
- High-speed high-resolution print inspection
- Surface inspection (printed circuit boards, flat panels and displays, semiconductors etc.)
- Food inspection
- Document scanning, and postal sorting
