Specific illumination for detection and highlighting of edges and/or surface defects such as scratches or engraving. Low angle ringlights offer darkfeld illumination from all directions highlighting scratches and defects in any orientation. These lights are usually positioned close to the object although they may be used at longer distances if the geometry is correct. They are available in a range of sizes and the rule of thumb is that optimum coverage is 50% of the diameter. Best performance when the product has a shiny surface.
