The Photoneo PhoXi 3D scanner utilises the ‘structured pattern approach’. This successful 3D scanner can cover a large area in one easy shot, making for faster processing and therefore the ability to meet tough cycle times. The PhoXi capturing and processing pipeline is capable of delivering 16 million measurements per second, available with either in 3.2 megapixels at 5 fps, or 0.8 megapixels at 20 fps. All calculations of point cloud and normal vectors are made inside these cleverly designed scanners, so not to waste client computer power on calculations.
One example of where PhoXi scanners come into their own is robotic applications. For example bin picking, where randomly placed semi-oriented objects can be picked from a container or pallet with ease. The high scan quality allows the PhoXi 3D scanner to pick parts positioned randomly and place them directly where needed without further orientation handling. Furthermore, the PhoXi is compatible with multiple industrial robot brands.
