  1. Machine Vision Just Got Brighter! – Introducing the New Genesi Blue Line Lighting Series

Comments Off on Machine Vision Just Got Brighter! – Introducing the New Genesi Blue Line Lighting Series

Multipix Imaging is pleased to introduce the new Genesi Blue Line from Genesi Elettronica – a powerful new family of machine vision lighting solutions engineered for precision, performance and versatility across industrial inspection systems.

In any machine vision system, the camera only ‘sees’ what the lighting reveals. Image quality, repeatability and inspection accuracy are far more dependent on lighting than anything else. Well-designed illumination creates contrast, controls reflections and shadows, and ensures that the same features are visible every time an image is captured — regardless of part variation or ambient light.

Genesi’s complete range of illuminators offers advanced features, broad wavelength options and flexible control modes, making it easier than ever to tailor lighting to specific vision applications.

What Makes the Blue Line Different?

The Blue Line sets a new benchmark in machine vision illumination with a suite of features designed to maximise performance and simplify integration:

    • Integrated controller with four operating modes — continuous, semi-continuous, over-driven strobe (PNP or NPN trigger) and analogue regulation — without the need for external hardware.
    • Rapid ignition for pulse durations down to just a few microseconds, perfect for high-speed imaging.
    • Wide range of colours (wavelengths) (18 standard choices from UV through to SWIR) to match different sensors and materials.
    • Choice of lens beam angles (10°, 30°, 60°, 90°) and optional polarising filters to suit varied lighting geometries.
    • Status LEDs and built-in monitoring for pulse duration and temperature help improve uptime and diagnostics.
    • Compatibility with the Genesi ABS606 controller for synchronised multi-light setups and camera timing
    • Transparent, satin or opal covers. Possibility of additional covers with polarising filters
    • Simple connection with the M12-5 pin connector;

Suggested Machine Vision Uses for Blue Line Products

    GP – Genesi Power Bar

    • Designed for use in line scan or area scan camera applications, the GP – Genesi Power Barlighting solution can be employed either alone or in combination with other illuminators of the same family, to achieve uniform illumination of objects with complex geometry.
    • In addition, these illuminators can be positioned at low angles to the object to provide dark field illumination, highlighting surface defects.

    GX – Genesi XBAR

    • Designed for use in vision systems with line scan or area scan cameras, the Genesi XBAR generates an extremely intense line of light. This differs from other lighting by first converging, then diverging, creating a 4° beam.
    • Two versions are available:
      • The ‘Multi Lens’ (ML), allows the lens to be positioned at different distances from the LEDs, producing a light beam ranging from 4° to 45°.
      • The second version has an opaline cover, which converts the illuminator into a very high intensity diffuse bar light, also suitable for use as a backlight.

    GEST – Genesi Mega-Ring

    • Designed to be used with area scan, colour or monochrome cameras and available in UV/IR/SWIR variants, the GEST – Genesi Mega-Ring is ideal for pick-and-place applications on robots, high-speed inspection of individual products, and OCR character reading.

    GS – Genesi Spot

    • Directional spot lighting ideal for illuminating small to mid-sized areas and enhancing fine feature detail.
    • It is possible to use multiple GS – Genesi Spotlights from different directions to acquire images suitable for photometric stereo 3D surface reconstruction.

    GB – Genesi Backlight

    • Designed for applications where a high quality silhouette image is or when it is necessary to enhance the inside parts of transparent or semi-transparent objects, enhancing defects and edges, making them ideal for pick and place systems.
    • There is also a collimated light version, making it possible to use the GB – Genesi Backlightin combination with telecentric lenses to satisfy the requirements of measurement applications.

There is also an IP69k version in 316 stainless steel version meeting the specific requirements of the Food & Beverage sector, withstanding humid environments and contact with products of different acidities

    .

    GF – Genesi Flat Dome

Able to provide a constant, high-power light beam over the entire surface of the object being examined, Designed to be used in vision systems where there is a need to provide uniform illumination over areas of varying size, the  making it possible to both check colours and verify the condition of the product.

    Summary

The Genesi Blue Line brings together flexibility, precision control and scalable performance, helping machine vision engineers solve lighting challenges more effectively — whether analysing fine detail, capturing high-speed imagery or simplifying system integration. With support for multiple wavelengths and advanced control modes built in, these lights give vision systems the foundation they need to deliver reliable, repeatable results.
