HALCON 13 Preview: Deep-Learning-Based OCR and ID Enhancements

The new and improved HALCON 13 is due to be released on November 01, 2016. HALCON 13 brings deep-learning-based OCR. This new feature consists of a new OCR classifier and pre-trained fonts which are based on deep learning technology. With this new technology, it is possible to achieve higher reading rates than with any of the previous methods of character classification offered.

Along with this new technology, HALCON 13 includes a number of major enhancements to its existing identification tools:  The automatic text reader in HALCON 13 is faster and is now capable of reading dot print characters. HALCON 13 also reads bar codes even if large parts of the code are either defective, or not at all visible. Additionally, the QR code reader has been improved to be much more robust against common challenges like blur or distortion.
